Making Our Community Healthier, Greener, & Cleaner!
Our community of Wekiwa Springs, a gem nestled in Orange County, prides itself on community engagement, scenic beauty, and the commitment of its residents. As the People of Wekiwa Springs Association, Inc., we’ve always believed in the power of collective action to make our neighborhood the best it can be. We’re excited to collaborate with our dedicated Orange County Commissioner, Christine Moore, in the Corridor Chief Program for District 2.
Have you ever walked or driven down your street only to be greeted by the sight of a burned-out streetlight or a damaged road sign?
While it’s easy to hope someone else will report these issues, Commissioner Moore believes that the power to make a difference lies within each resident. And to help promote this empowerment concept, she introduced the ‘Corridor Chief.’
Being a Corridor Chief isn’t about grand gestures or huge time commitments. It’s about the little things. By dedicating a little time each week, you can help identify and report issues in our community. From burned-out lights to faded pavement markings, these seemingly minor concerns can majorly impact the quality of life in our neighborhood.
The tools are simple and accessible. By downloading the county’s 311 App, residents can quickly report any deficiencies they notice. Whether it’s improperly disposed of lawn debris or a malfunctioning traffic signal, your reports become the voice of our community. As Commissioner Moore has highlighted, the collaboration between residents and public employees becomes an invaluable partnership. Our diligent reporting, coupled with the county’s swift response, can catalyze the transformation of our corridors.
But the role of a Corridor Chief isn’t limited to just reporting. It’s about taking pride in our neighborhood. It’s about picking up trash, guiding neighbors on proper waste disposal, and ensuring our streets are safe and welcoming. As you stroll along the corridor adjacent to your community, taking responsibility to pick up any unsightly litter helps ensure we all enjoy a healthier, greener, cleaner environment.
So, how can you be part of this transformative journey? Contact Commissioner Moore’s office at 407.836.5850 to learn more about the Corridor Chief Program. Participate in the People of Wekiwa Springs Association neighborhood group meetings, where you’ll find a platform to voice concerns, share ideas, and collaborate with fellow engaged citizens.
In the words of Commissioner Moore, “It is empowering and encouraging to see our communities and corridors improve.”
