2025 November Meeting Minutes

POWS Board Meeting 11/11/2025

The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm.

Trunk or Treat was a success and all vendors involved were happy with the outcome.

We have no suggestions for speakers for next year.

Sue H. and Richard will both be stepping down from their positions as president and treasurer.  The election will be held in February.

It was suggested that we do quarterly meetings next year with 4-5 speakers and invite vendors.  Possibly getting other groups involved.

Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm

Our speakers were Orange County Fire Resue station 27.  They discussed frying turkeys, cooking outside away from any structure and watching all the time.  Most common house fire is electrical.  They suggested getting your electrical breaker panel inspected regularly.  You should have your chimney cleaned/inspected yearly prior to use.  Do not overload your Christmas tree with lights, LED are best.  Artificial synthetic trees are very flammable.  Smoke detectors should be changed every 10 years.  They have a new academy on Curry Ford Road.  Fire rescue does not provide CPR training for the public.  However, there are private companies that do CPR certification.  They do a yearly “hands only” CPR training for the high schools.

Trunk or Treat was a great success.  The main dishes for the Christmas party will be catered.  Please sign up on the website if you will be attending and what you will be bringing as a side dish or drink.

There will be two positions open on the board, president and treasurer.  Sue H. will help the new president, and Richard will still be available.Meeting was adjourned at 8:00pm
