2026 February Meeting Minutes

POWS Board Meeting 02/10/2026

The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm.

The election will be held tonight for president.  One of the members suggested we get a shredding company to come out.  Sue did some research and the companies that provide the service require money or a certain number of people.  We may be able to go in on it with other groups.  David Gregory is with solid waste and can give us information on Orange Counties shred-a-thon.  Sue suggested we look into the permitting process and talk to the commissioner to determine how to make it better.  Sue will help the new president file the annual report and taxes.  The president and the secretary have to be on the account.  Sue and Richard will take care of that.  Sue will put together a list of what changes need to be made.  We will be moving the PO box to Apopka Pack and Ship.

POWS Meeting 02/10/2026

Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm

The elections for president, vp, treasurer and secretary were completed.  The candidates for president were Laura Letson and Tammy Garich.  Tammy Garish won the president position.  Debbie Stevens ran unopposed as VP and won.  Patricia Russell offered to be treasurer. She was unopposed. Sue Garich ran unopposed as secretary and won. The open Director at Large position will be nominated and approved at the next Board Meeting.  Sue will get the groups “Fun Money” to Patricia.  Sue has agreed to continue doing the website.  It was agreed that we will do a Welch Road clean up on March 28^th.  There will be a sign-up sheet on the website.  It was suggested that we contact Ace, Home Depot and Lowes to get supplies donated.  We will make signs for the clean up for safety.  We will provide safety vests, gloves and trash bags.  It was discussed that everyone work on getting sponsors for the group.  A member suggested we do backpacks for back to school or donate money to the local schools for lunches.  We will discuss having another rummage sale.  The next meeting will be on the second Tuesday of March, then we may meet quarterly.
