A drive-thru food drive was suggested for HOPE Center of Apopks.  Tammy will get more information.  Sue H. will talk to Debbie Peterson regarding using the church parking lot.

Sue H. will also ask Debbie about using the church for a rummage sale and pancake breakfast on 05.03.2025.  Splitting the profits with the church 50/50.  Sue H. suggested we ask the Wekiva High School Culinary club to cook the breakfast. It was suggested that we advertise this in the Apopka Chief.

Sue H. will discuss Trunk or Treat with Debbie as well.

We have agreed to do clean ups four times a year/quarterly.  This would not include commercial properties.  Richard will work with Keep America Beautiful.

Richard will be completing the application for Chamber of Commerce.

POSA will be having it’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 5th.  Volunteers can sign up on our website.

POWS Meeting 03/11/2025

Our speaker this evening was Lyle Heinz, principal of Apopka High School.  Unfortunately, Mr. Heinz was not in attendance.

Tammy Garich has taken over coordinating events.

Richard will be cleaning up the “welcome to Wekiva Springs” area this Saturday, 03.15.2025 at 8:00am

Commissioner Moore is having a clean up this Saturday as well.

POSA will be having their Easter Egg Hunt on April 5th from 10-12 at the New Covenant Perfecting Ministries church located at 1190 Apopka Blvd.  They need volunteers and candy donations.  You can sign up on the POWS website.

In April, Commissioner Moore is coordinating the painting of the West Orange tunnel with kids from the high school.  She has requested volunteers to supervise and ladders.

We are planning a rummage sale and pancake breakfast for 05.03.2025.

We discussed a quarterly day of giving.  Working with local churches and different groups.  There is the potential to work with the Main Street Apopka group and possibly the Rotary for a car show.

We will do quarterly clean ups on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

It was discussed and agreed that text messaging is ok to communicate.

It was requested that we have a calendar of events. This is in the works.

The question was brought up, are we financially doing ok.  Richard reported that yes, we are fine.  We have sponsors (listed on the website) that help and the fun fund.  We are coordinating fund raisers.

Commissioner Moore reported that her next quarterly meeting will be March 27th.  The speaker will be discussing trails.

Survey Results:

More events, projects.  Less clean ups.  Some ideas were; spaghetti dinner, community ride event, corn hole, picnic in the park, senior coffee hour.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:07pm
