2025 February Meeting Minutes

POWS Board Meeting 02/11/2025

Meeting was called to order at 6:38pm.

It was discussed that we would not participate in the corridor of the year contest.  Jeff had to step down from the board.

A survey will be mailed to members to see what ideas they have and where they would like the group to go.

It was suggested that we do one big clean up quarterly.

We will offer our help to other groups.

Commissioner Moore would like us to supervise Thompson Road fence painting on March 29rh.

We would like to have another workshop in early March.

Speakers have been booked for the year.

POWS Meeting 02/11/2025

Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm

Our speaker this evening was Dr. Nick Grounds, president & CEO of Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Grounds explained what the Chamber does and how it helps the community.

The cost for a business to join the Chamber is $285 or $500 (which includes a ribbon cutting).  For non-profit the fee is $135.

They have; expos, lunch and learns and job fairs.  They also have a table at the 5rth Street Market that can be rented out by businesses or non-profit organizations that are members of the Chamber for $50/wk.  They will be holding a non-profit expo on Wednesday, May 14^th.

The meeting continued and it was mentioned that a survey will be sent out to members to ask what they want to see for the group going forward.

There will be no Easter event this year.   We will help other groups with their events.  These will be posted on the website.
