As we close out another year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for all that we’ve accomplished together through POWS. Your dedication, hard work, and selfless determination have been instrumental in achieving the successes we’ve celebrated this past year.
From our very first pancake breakfast to the Easter Egg Hunt, your contributions—both in time and financial support—have made a tangible difference in our community. The work done in our various corridors, led by our incredible Corridor Champions such as Sue, Tammy, Laura, Alfonzo, Debbie, Russell, Angela, Jean, Rick, Jeff, and Kelly, as well as our Corridor Cleanup Weekend Teams, has been nothing short of inspirational.
This year, we planted trees at the entrance of Breezy Heights and beautified the front entrance. Thanks to your efforts, we also assisted the tenants on both sides of the Breezy Heights entrance with problem vegetation they couldn’t manage alone, making a significant impact. And let’s not forget the outstanding cleanup on South Lake Pleasant Drive—POWS truly knocked it out of the park, leaving residents deeply appreciative of our hard work.
I am especially proud of how we have evolved as an organization. What began as a small group tackling special County projects has grown into an incorporated entity with bylaws, sponsors, and 501(c)(3) status. This year, we also embarked on major art projects within the community. The beautiful sign we created at the corner of Rt. 436 and Wekiwa Springs Road has garnered weekly praise from residents who appreciate the effort and care we’ve invested. And this is just the beginning—our Art Committee is already planning exciting new projects for the coming year to further enhance Wekiwa Springs and showcase how wonderful it is to live here.
Beyond the tangible results, I deeply value the positive energy and supportive atmosphere you all bring to POWS. Achievements like these don’t happen by themselves—they require a group of dedicated, caring individuals who put egos aside and work together for the greater good. One of the things I love most about this group is the diversity of backgrounds and experiences you all bring to the table, and your willingness to share them to achieve our collective goals. It’s not always easy being the liaison with government officials or addressing concerns from frustrated residents, but I’ve been inspired watching many of you patiently engage with individuals and help them see how collaboration can lead to meaningful change.
It has truly been a privilege to work alongside such a talented and committed group this year. Thank you for your creativity, good humor, patience, and boundless enthusiasm. Let’s raise a toast to all we’ve accomplished and look forward to even greater achievements in 2025!
